BETWEEN PURISM
AND ELEGANT COUNTRY STYLE
Can country house also show puristic traits? Purism does have minimalist approaches, but compared to minimalism it also has striking design elements in the sense of an elegant, design-oriented holistic facility. This is similar to the modern country house style, which is made up of a combination of reduction and accentuation and thus embodies both styles. Even monolithic plans are possible and en vogue.
Sometimes it is just the framed front and/or the wood look of the front, niche rear panel or shelving element or the combination of material and color that is reminiscent of the country kitchen and allows it to experience a renaissance in a new design language.
It is quite possible to combine tradition and modernity. Because materials such as wood, ceramics, glass and stone are used in both puristic and elegant country-style kitchens. The combination of the profiled frame, cassette or slatted fronts with smooth finishes, which are so characteristic of the classic country house style, creates a completely individual, elegant and, thanks to the use of correspondingly simple colours, also a puristic style.
Depending on the region and taste, country-style kitchens are much more distinctive, not only in different wood finishes, but also in strong shades such as green, blue or grey. The surface structures of modern country-style interpretations are usually in a soft matt finish. But high-gloss fronts can also give a modern country kitchen a special elegance. The worktops in wood design, ceramic or natural stone are also striking.
Versatile, homely and individually combinable, showcase elements with faceted glass or simple glass panels serve as accentuation. They can also be part of an implied kitchen buffet, which is integrated into the overall plan as if from a single source, or represents a visual highlight as a solitaire. Simple handles, metal or porcelain knobs or shell handles are representative of the stylish country kitchen. The symbiosis with handle-less front variants does not stand in the way of this.
Rather, they underline the timeless modernity of the kitchens. The trend towards individualization also applies to the creations of the modern, homely country style, in accordance with the mix & match philosophy.
